Hey Doo Dah Friends & Lovers, That Pandemic at the Disco Doo Dah Parade was a much needed comic relief. Thanks for the laughs. Thanks to everyone, including the $ Contributors, DisOrganizers, Bands, InVolunteers, Politicians, and media mouths. Our Virtual Voyeurs, thanks for watching. Those in Operations & On-Line made the 1st time virtual Doo Dah Parade Pandemic Rain Date not suck so much. Working at getting the whole day's live feed video broken down into pieces. Here's Brian Clash & and the other Coffee House Rebels including John Estep, who was also in Betty Bang Band. That band's performance was fun. I've posted Mary B. Relotto's Doo Dah Parade 2020 Line-up video on www.DooDahParade.com. Soon we'll have a video of parade there too. Check it out. It's quite fun to see up close the signs and messages from all the many entries. Thanks for everyone who was in the parade (even those on July 4th) and gave us a much-needed dose of humor. And, to the brave pandemic watchers along parade route. Thanks to my hubby for giving up his time with me to produce the parade.

Thanks, Doo Dah for the fun! Mz Doo Dah, Deb Roberts ChairChick & Queen

Thanks, Columbus Monthly!
Doo Dah Parade (Sept. 19)This annual festival of facetious fun, usually a July Fourth event, was delayed but not destroyed by the coronavirus. This year’s parade will include vehicles only, decorated to address the theme of “roasting the pandemic.” (Seen above: a 2019 participant.) To that end, the parade, which starts at 1 p.m. at Buttles Avenue and Park Street, will proceed at a good clip of 20 to 25 miles per hour; participants and spectators are advised to wear masks and maintain a social distance. The block party that typically follows the parade will likely be replaced by an online after-party. doodahparade.com

2019 Doo Dah DisOrganizer DisHonoree:
Keith McInturf! No Parking, man Doo Dah 2018 Sweat Equity, Thank you!
It was hotter than Haiti, but the parade had the funniest stuff west of the White House.
To everyone who braved the suppressing heat and watched the parade, and to everyone who marched in the sweltering heat, you now wear a Badge of True Doo Dah Courage. You put in Doo Dah sweat equity that contributed to one of the best hysterical and historical satirical parades ever! Your humor was HOT!
To the block party bands and the Doo Dah Rock Stars, thank you too for your talent and fun tunes that wafted through the thick air over Doo Dah.
To the InVolunteers, InSECURITY, Line-up & Starters, Clean-up on Isle 4, DisOrganizers, Vendors, Sound and Stage crew, solar & POWER, MC Dougan, Police, and BeerTenders, I thank you too for pitching in, working in that heat and making the operation of Doo Dah look a little less DisOrganized than we actually are.
And, BIG thank you to all of the Contributors who paid for the parade; and to the media for promoting the parade; and to the art team for making us look pretty.
For the hottest Doo Dah Parade in history…you were the coolest people ever!

DOO DAH PARADE - PARTY!
Rain or shine.
No Carry in coolers
No Glass
Bands are performing for free. So, now you have the Official Doo Dah Parade and the Party info on your Social Calendar for July 4th, where in the heck should you park da'Car?

A love letter of Thank You to ALL Doo Dah Lovers, from Mz Doo Dah.Thank you, my Doo Dah Lovelies. Yesterday as I worked at putting away props and things, banking, and paying bills I was thinking of you, and how you knocked me out!
I start my thank you list with my hubby, King Charlie, who endeared my being MIA for endless hours at a time as I DisOrganized the Doo Dah Parade + Party. And, to our dogs, Lucy & Sydney, as mommy hasn't been home much the last few weeks.
The Weather. It was perfect.
Less-Than-Grand Marshal, James "Buster" Douglas. Buster knocked us all out with his charm and patience as millions of photos were taken of him. Personally, it was a thrill to announce Buster at line-up by raising the Champs hand to start the parade. I only wish Joe Theibert was there.
Thank you, Greg Zanetos for hosting Buster in your home, and your whopping check! And thanks to John Johnson for helping with Team Buster.
The neighbors, for enduring special event parking SNFAU on July 4th.
Buster's Doo Dah Secret InSecurity Team and Handler. They had their job cut out for them this year as Buster was extremely popular.
InVolunteers of InSECURITY showed up and did due diligence in their details. The parade route was secured and clean. Thank you.
Our Vendors and their wonderful Doo Dah deals. Your discounts, freebies, & flexibility helps so much in making the budget! And, to the Vendors who sold food at the Block Party as you very were generous with the yummies to the volunteers and bands.
The Musical Rock Stars of Doo Dah. You had so much talent and fun music oozing through the speakers that caused people to sing, swing & sway, and drink lots o'beer.
The solar guys, the sound guys, and the stage and tent guys who collaborated to help make the music.
The BeerTenders. You did some serious pouring! Excellent job on keeping the line moving fast and the cups full.
The Contributors. Thank you for paying for the parade. It was wonderful to see so many contributor's smiling faces along the parade route.
The T-Shirt Shuckers sales also helped subsidize parade expenses. There's still a few for sale at the BP on Neil.
The Media. Thank you for reporting about our fake parade!
The Police for keeping all safe and sound.
The City of Columbus and ODLC Staffers for executing my permits, and with a smile on your face.
My "Clean-up on Isle 4" crew. Unfortunately, you started with a bit of a mess from Boom, but you forged on and got the streets back to better than we found them.
DisOrganizer DisHonoree Emeritus, Frank Randall Tarr. Randy has been involved with Doo Dah since the mid 80's.
To the hard-working, fun-loving, and dedicated Doo Dah DisOrganizers. I know that I say it, but once again, I can't do Doo Dah without you. Thank you.
The crowd was huuuuuuuuuge! So many great things and people I saw and experienced along the parade route such as Mr Clark bouquet flowers and the parade waltz, the festively decorated folks, the impromptu judging stations, and the folks with the "why am I here" look on their face, for the smiling and laughing faces, and some of those faces I've seen repeatedly over my past 26 years of Doo Dah's 34 years, for the new faces, and for those who gave us a click.
Last, but absolutely not the least, The Doo Dah Parade Marchers. You knocked me out! Your witty words, your creative craftsmanship, and the revelers of revolutionaries of satire, you triumphed in your quest of a great parade! I look forward to reading all your comments and looking at your pictures. I loved your humor, your art, and your spirit. Thank you.
I am very proud and grateful,
Deb Roberts, Mz Doo DahYour ChairChick & Queen of Doo Dah

Get to Doo Dah!
Michael Coleman named Doo Dah Parade's Less-Than-Grand Marshal
A Politically Incorrect Spin on a Parade!

Less-Than-Grand Marshal DJ Michael B. Coleman will be spinning Chaos and Control at the 33rd Annual Doo Dah Parade.

The Doo Dah Parade is about Freedom of Speech, through humor. Put your own humorous spin on an issue and march in irreverence on the Fourth of July in the Short North Arts District.

Remember, ALL politician must wear a funny hat. No full nudity. No blatant advertising. You don’t even have to pre-register. And, there is no entry fee! What the what?! This seems too good to be true!

Come out and see for yourself. If you’re too politically correct to march, then just come and sit along the parade route to watch and get a good laugh.

There's also an Official Doo Dah Block Party on Buttles between High Street and Park Street. It's Free too with a great band line-up!

Ode to Doo Dah 2015
So after many days of napping, putting stuff away, paying Doo Dah bills, and generally simply recovering, I’m back on my feet. Doo Dah!
What got me moving again, is really what got me most moved at Doo Dah. You. You, singing the National Anthem so loud and proud as if nothing but country pride coursed through your veins.
You. You made me and the city laugh so hard with your razor sharp satirical humor. Don’t you just love that next day feeling when your stomach muscles hurt from using them so much from laughing?
Some good news is, the Marching Fidel’s took only willing subjects to Cuba this year; sold them some goods and then kicked them back to the good old U.S. of A.
Jim Maneri was back from his cruise ship's three hour tour to lead and drop the baton for the band of bohemian musicians playing the best off-key and out of tune instruments while stumbling down the streets of Columbus.
Speaking of streets. You jammed packed the parade route so much that next year we’re going to have add some more blocks to the Doo Dah route!! The folks on Neil & Dennison should be happy about this news!
You, you, and you! The parade route was 100% parade again!! 3rd year in a row that the begging of the parade got to the end of the parade as the end of the parade was begging the parade! Follow that?
The amount of people “in” the parade may have set a record! One of these days we really ought to take a head count. But, by time the parade rolls around to High Street there actually are more people in the parade than there were when it started out. Plus, some people stop to play at friends’ houses and never get back into the parade or they bring more people out with them to march. So, try and count that chaos.
Try to count the V.I.P.’s secretly watching Doo Dah along the parade route.I “heard” that not only was Mayor Michael B. Coleman and former Governor Ted Strickland there, supposedly so was OSU's Gene Smith and Urban & Shelley Meyer. Or, is this just a new Urban legend?
Speaking of legends. Less-Than-Grand Marshal Gregg Dodd took his role of responsibility to the maximumgloodiolus legendary level. Good luck to next year’s Less-Than-Grand Marshal to try to top Mr. Dodd’s pride and excitement level. It is not required of future LTGM’s to perform splits.
I’m going spit here. Again, thank you and to everyone who made Doo Dah 2015 another one for the hysterical history books!
Love from the Land of Doo Dah,Mz Doo Dah, Deb Roberts. Your ChairChick & Queen of Doo Dah.

A Bright Shiny Columbus
On July 4th 2014, Columbus was shining so bright that you needed sunglasses. I’m not taking only about the big shinny thing up in the sky that delivered us the perfect weather for the Doo Dah Parade, I’m not just talking about the giant shiny smile on Less-Than-Grand Marshal Jym Ganahl’s face as he waved to the crowd from a beautiful 1920 Coupe, nor the light that beamed from the rock stars performing on the block party stage. I am not only talking about the bright smiles and rays of joy that came from the super-sized laughing and smiling crowd watching the Doo Dah Parade. I am most defiantly talking about the brilliance that shined from the bright messages in the art work, the brilliant humor and cleverness of the satire from entrants of the 31st Annual Doo Dah Parade. The brilliance this year was masterful to say the least. No one, nor can I, pick the “best entry” because everyone who marched in the parade “got it” Your satire and art was brilliant. You got the mockery and the humor down pat. Even the few commercialized entries got it that they had to make fun of themselves. If I sound like a preacher proud of the flock, I’ll take that satire with a bright smile on my face.

Thank you everyone who had a part in making Columbus shine so bright that the teams from other galaxies showed up because they saw your brilliant beam of light. Finally, to have a school of fish against Doo Dah was brilliant too!

Jym Ganahl, NBC4 Meteorologist, to serve as
Less-Than-Grand Marshal for 31st Annual Doo Dah Parade

Legendary Columbus Meteorologist Jym Ganahl will join thousands of irreverent self-styled satirists, partygoers, exhibitionists and overall lost souls in the 31st Annual Doo Dah Parade.

Parade organizers invite people who think they're funny, and those who honestly admit they are not, to join the fun and march in the 2014 Doo Dah Parade. Or for those lacking any creativity, to just sit there and watch everyone else have a good time.

All politicians must wear a funny hat, no commercialized entries, no full nudity and no water balloons. Other than that, let the humor rip!Less-Than-Grand Marshal: Lesley James of CD101 (102.5FM). WWJD? What will Lesley James Do? Will she show up? Or, will she be a no-show? Tradition has it that the Less-Than-Grand Marshal usually does not to show up. That was until Bob Nunnally discovered in 2000 that it was actually fun!Political figure head's may roll, mother's milk may spray, and stupid things may happen, and we hope that you are there to be a part of it all!Parade Route: (Line-up on heading North on Park Street) Head West on Buttles Avenue to North on Neil Avenue to East on Second Avenue to South on High Street to Russell Avenue where it all falls apart. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, water, sunscreen, and seriously - let the dog stay at home. If the parade was good for you, come on over to the Doo Dah Parade's "Afterglow" block party on Buttles Avenue between High Street & Park Street for Food, Beer, Fun and FREE live music from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. MUSIC MARTYRS FOR DOO DAH - 2011 Band Line-Up: 10:00 a.m. – 1045 a.m. - Corey Landen Brunes11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. - Miss Molly & Friends12:00 Noon – 12:45 p.m. - The Apple-Bottom Gang12:45 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Break/National Anthem/Marchers Rev up!1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – The Main Attraction - The 28th Annual Doo Dah Parade! Do you have a "Cause" worth marching for? If so, then The 28th Annual Doo Dah Parade is the perfect place for you to be a Martyr - in a funny way. It's satirical humor at its worst best.
All politicians must wear a funny hat. No full nudity. And, no water guns or balloons please.
Can you believe it? Still after all of these years, there is still no entry fee or registration required! Why? Because the Money Martyrs are paying for your enjoyment. (Please take a minute and browse their web links in the right hand column). You can be a Money Martyr too by clicking on the "Donate" button.
More silly details to come!

A little Negativity: The Three Sins of Doo Dah:
1. All Politicians must wear a funny hat! Why? 'Cause we don't care aboutPoliticians. We'd rather make fun of them. That's Doo Dah for ya. You'rein America Baby! You know, where Freedom rings. Freedom of Speech, thoughhumor is what Doo Dah is all about. No funny hat...No marchie-marchie.
2. No Commercialized entrees in the parade. Why? 'Cause we don't carethat Company XYZ was in the Doo Dah Parade. We care about what you have tosay. So, don't come and be all commercialized and ready to march....'Causeyou won't, unless you have a message that's humorous. And, no stupidbusiness banners either.
3. No water balloons and super soakers and the likes. Why? 'Cause, askthe guy who's jaw was broken by one, just ask the guy who's windshield wassmashed by one, just ask the artist who's words become nothing but inkblots. How about putting drinking water stations out for the marchersinstead? That would be novel.
Does this all sound serious? Yes. And that's just about all we're seriousabout. With the except that we are serious about YOU having FUN on July4th, 2011! Why is this humor thing so important? Well, heck. Don't wehave enough seriousness throughout the year? Can't we take one guilt freeday and celebrate with some fun and laughter? Laughter is not illegal inthe U.S.A!

I want to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who was outrageous enough to march in the 27th Annual Doo Dah Parade. Entries were ravenously funny. Thank you to those who watched it, mocked it, loved it, and even hated it (particularly the person in the Dispatch’s commentsof “Doo Dah Holds Nothing Sacred” article who said “…the out of touch burn outs that organize the thing haven't had their pulse on the community in years”). Thank you for all the fun comments and photos. I can't wait to sit down and look over all the pics and reply to all the comments.
The question as to "who won?". The answer is everyone won. The best bribes winner was the Wilber Hills Country Club.. The worst entry was the Hummer with the hummer crap ads.
General consensus is that this was best Doo Dah Parade in History, and most definitely the longest with most entries. You guys rock! I stood on the back seat of a golf-cart and looked down Park Street from Buttles to Goodale (even wrapped around the corner) and from curb to curb and saw it was packed with entrants. I almost fell off the cart!
We've gotten all the trash picked up and inventory put away (with the exceptions of the golf-carts and the junk on my front porch). I now might try to get some sleep. Before I do, I want to also thank all of the DisOrganizers, the Contributors, the Vendors, the Logo/Poster/T-Shirt/Banner Designers and Creators, the City of Columbus & CPD, the Media, the Photographers, The Neighbors & Neighborhoods, the Bands, Stage & Sound folks, those who Marched and those Watched, and everyone who lent a hand to Doo Dah 2010 as a Volunteer (especially the Clean-up Crew), and most importantly those who have fought for our Freedom and our Freedom of Speech. I'm a bit blown away by it all. I think I'll go have a mini-emotional breakdown. Ah, that’s no fun. But, I do need some sleep.
I truly believe the Columbus History Books will show that on July 4th, 2010, that there was an contagious outbreak of Doo Dah Fever.

HEALTH WARNING ISSUED TO RESIDENTS OF CENTRAL OHIO!!!

A severe case of Doo Dah Fever is expected to break out on Sunday July 4th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. The source of the fever is in the Short North Arts District. Warning! Doo Dah Fever is known to be extremely contagious and highly infectious!! Symptoms range from delirious smiles and laughter to stomach pains from mockery and satire. Doo Dah Fever has even caused respected and disrespected Politicians to loose their mind and wear funny hats and march in the Doo Dah Parade!

There is no known Rx for cure. It is best to quarantine yourself at the 27th Annual Doo Dah Parade with others who have also caught the Doo Dah Fever! Dr. Doo Dah’s advice is to carry a funny sign and march IN the Doo Dah Parade.

Line-up is at noon. There is no entry fee (i.e., free office visit). Everyone is invited to march, with no pre-registration requirements.

What? Are we sick? Yes!! We have Doo Dah Fever Baby!! Catch it!!
